from Manang to the Ice-Lake, 4.600 m

 Climb 1.100 meter, 4-5 h

It is a beautiful but strenuous day hike.

Coming from Manang go down to the riverbed. and go up to the little gompa perched above the ridge

Climb further north across some little houses.

Continuing on a large trail you reach a old broken waterpipe.

Follow it till you reach a desertet and dilapidated village at about 4000 m with some bigger trees.

Follow a irrigation canal till you see footmarks going up right.

Dont follow the canal till the end!

After this you continue to climb to the north east over meadows. Further up the meadows are more even and you will find a little spring.

on the ridge you will find footmarks going up in serpentines and you will see some cairns.

Watch out, there are often wild  blue sheps grazing here.

Shortly after you will reach a saddle with a little chorten from which you can see already the first lake.

Pass it a the left side (west) and reach over a large even meadow the proper Ice Lake.

There is even a toilet up there and on the south side a stone bank to sit.

VConturning the lake you will have breathtaking views from the northside with Annpurna II, IV, Gangapurna, Glacier Dome, Grande Barriere und Tilicho Peak mirrored in the dark blue water.

The route in the map is just  marked aproximately.

Thank you Helmut

and I wish all the trekkers going ther a marvellous day.
