From Pokhara to Begnastal to Besisahar
Most trekkers start from Dumre and take directly a bus right to Besisahar. If you have
some spare days left or want to start in Pokhara, you can also start in Begnas Tal, and Trek in 3 days to Besisahar/Khudi
Begnas Tal
Begnas Tal is just 15 km to the east from Pokhara. You can either take a bus or a taxi. Begnas Tal is situated near a little lake and you have to climb the hill up to Pansh
Baiya, where you will find some lodges with a great view on the Annapurna range. Not many trekkers go this trail till now, so the standard of the lodges can be lower than on the main Trek, but you will see
more of the real Nepali life. I would advise, that you dont go alone, as one has to walk sometimes for hours in the forest..
View from Panch Baiya with on the left Annapurna South and one, in the middle the fishtail and the right Annapurna II.
The trail goes trough forest and rice paddies to Karputar (some lodges) and to Syauli bazar.
In Syauli bazar you can visit the Sardogs Nepal the only
rescue dogs for whole Nepal. http://www.sardogsnepal.asia/ . They also do trials with different vegetable crops
and fish farming. Since 2000 they have build a lodge in Bavarian style, an excellent place to stay, so that you have the time to visit the project area.

After Syauli bazar you will have to climb the step and never ending Nalma ridge.
Dont complain about the heath, later on the Trek it will be cold enough. But you will be rewarded by beautiful views and nice villages. The lodges in Baglungpani were not the best ones in 1998, maybe they are better now, but from there you have a great view on the Manaslu range.
From Baglungpani one has a great view on the Manaslu range
A possible Trek schedule
Day 1 bus to Begnas Tal take in Begnas tal a bus to Karputar and continue to Syauli bazar
Day 2: Syauli Bazar to Baglungpani
Day 3: Baglungpani to Bulbule on the main Annapurna circuit Trek
1.Trekking from Begnas Tal: 3 extra days This is a beautiful trek, which is chosen by very few tourists. Therefore, the lodges are still very simple.
I liked it so much that I have done it three times already.
Take an early minibus from opposite the old bus park in Pokhara to Begnas Tal. In Begnas Tal take
either the trail up to the ridge, which offers beautiful views of the Annapurna range above the lake.
Most people will take the bus to Karputar. From Karputar go to Syauli Bazaar, where amazingly you’ll find a Bavarian-style lodge!
Continuing to the east, cross the river and climb up a very steep hill and you will come to the beautiful village of Nalma. Continue along the ridge to reach the village of Baglungpani , which has one very
basic lodge but which offers a fantastic dal bhat. Walking in the forest you will come to a branch off on the trail, take the left one.
While in Baglungpani make sure to be up on the ridge above the village for sunset. Your reward will be an incredible panorama of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges bathed in the setting sun.
Continue from Baglungpani to the west and descent to the Marsyangdi River valley and you will reach Khudi, which is not far away from Bhulbhule.
