Dzong and Chaingur ***

Dzong, Kali Gandaki, Chaingur

On the north side of the valley leading down from Muktinath to Kagbeni, there are two wonderful villages, Dzong and Chaingur. you can visit them either from Muktinath or Jharkot and its really worth to spend an extra day. In Dzong you will find a marvellous Gompa and every time I went to Dzong the village people where having some religious feast or procession.

The little monk of Dzong

When we visited the Gompa, the little monk showed us everything, but then He had to hurry to the village. Because there was not enough rain in the winter, the village people held a big procession begging for it. They carried big and heavy Prayers books all around the fields belonging to the village and the monks had to blow their trumpet horns.

I was completely out of breath, trying to follow even the old women, they where just running to fast for me!
