Nepal, Trekking around Annapurna - the Manang side

13. Temang – Thanchouk–Koto- Chame (2670 m) 3-3.5 hrs..:
After you reach the top of Temang the trail goes along the road with little ups and downs to the village of Upper Thanchouk (1hr). From there it is another 20 min to the main part of the settlement. Thanchouk is a beautiful old village built on a ridge and is worth seeing. So turn to the right and take the time for a little sightseeing tour.
There is one lodge in the village along the main trail and two other lodges 10 minutes after the village. Follow the road trail for about 1hr to reach the old village of Koto (2600 m) with some nice old-style wooden houses. Look down to the valley and yo will see some time the former trail going by Latamarang and some houses destroyed by falling rocks during the construction of the road.
just after the end of Koto is the starting point for the restricted trek to Naar and Phugaon
From Koto it is about 40 min on the dirt road till you reach Chame and entering the village area through a big entrance gate.
Chame is the district headquarter of the Marsyangi valley and you will find a bank, a police post and governement offices. You als will find many shops selling trekking goods.
yummy daal bhat in a little teashop in Chame The main village is on the right riverside but if oyu cross the river you will find some more very nice lodges. Turning to the right after the bridge you will find after around 200 m a little hotspring just beside the river. i will never rival with the big pools of Tatopani but it can be very pleasant after along trek.
Jsut a littl bit upward t the left side of the bridge on the way to Manang there is a nice little courtyard with the old gompa. you might ask people if they have the keys, but it is not realy an outstanding gompa.
